Ask anyone what watch James Bond wears and the answer today is almost always Omega. But for Daniel Craig’s 007 it was never just one watch. Across five films, from 2006 to 2021, his Bond wore a different Seamaster almost every time, and the choice changed with the character: rougher at the start, more classic in the middle, more personal at the end.
This is the complete guide to the James Bond Omega watches of the Craig era, film by film.
Before Craig: how Omega became the Bond watch
For thirty years, Bond’s watch was mostly a Rolex, starting with Sean Connery’s Submariner in Dr. No (1962). That changed in 1995 with GoldenEye: Pierce Brosnan wore a blue Omega Seamaster Professional 300M, reportedly suggested by costume designer Lindy Hemming. Omega has been on Bond’s wrist ever since.
When Craig arrived in 2006, he inherited the brand. What he did with it is the interesting part.
Casino Royale (2006): the Seamaster 300M and the Planet Ocean
In his first film, Craig’s Bond wears two Omegas:
- the Seamaster Diver 300M with a blue dial (ref. 2220.80.00), the direct heir of Brosnan’s watch, worn with a tuxedo at the poker table;
- the Seamaster Planet Ocean (ref. 2900.50.91), a larger diver used mostly in the action scenes.
Casino Royale also gave Omega its most famous line in the franchise. On the train, Vesper looks at Bond’s wrist and asks: “Rolex?” Bond replies: “Omega.” Two words that marked the end of an era.
Quantum of Solace (2008): one watch, the Planet Ocean 600M
Quantum of Solace is the simplest film for watch spotters: Bond wears a single Omega throughout, the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M (ref. 2201.50.00), a 42mm steel diver with a black dial. It suits the film perfectly: a raw, fast revenge story with a tool watch that never leaves his wrist, from the desert to the action sequences.
Skyfall (2012): Planet Ocean for action, Aqua Terra for the city
In Skyfall, Bond starts to wear different watches for different situations:
- the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M (ref. 232.30.42.21.01.001) for the action scenes;
- the Seamaster Aqua Terra (ref. 231.10.39.21.03.001), a dressier watch with a teak-pattern dial, for the indoor scenes.
According to Teddy Baldassarre, the Planet Ocean used on set had a titanium case, unlike the steel version sold in stores, and one of the screen-worn pieces later sold at Christie’s for more than $250,000.
Spectre (2015): the Seamaster 300 on a NATO strap
Spectre is the film where the watch talks most directly to Bond’s past:
- an Aqua Terra 150M (ref. 231.10.42.21.03.003) in the Day of the Dead opening in Mexico City;
- the Seamaster 300 (ref. 233.32.41.21.01.001) on a striped NATO strap, a clear tribute to Sean Connery’s Submariner on a strap in Goldfinger (1964).
As in the classic films, the watch is also a gadget: in the story, the Seamaster 300 hides an explosive charge triggered by turning the bezel.
No Time to Die (2021): the 007 Edition in titanium
For his last film, Craig did not just wear a watch: he helped design it. The Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition (ref. 210.90.42.20.01.001), announced in December 2019, was developed with his input. According to WatchesBySJX, Craig wanted a lighter watch that suited a military man, and the details show it:
- a 42mm case and mesh bracelet entirely in titanium;
- a brown dial and bezel styled like a vintage “tropical” dial;
- a broad arrow on the dial and caseback, the mark of British military equipment, a reminder that Bond is a Royal Navy commander.
It is the most personal watch of the Craig era, and a fitting way to close it.

Why these watches matter
Craig’s five films tell a small story through the wrist. His Bond starts with the watch he inherited from Brosnan, moves to the tougher Planet Ocean, learns to switch between action and elegance in Skyfall, looks back to Connery in Spectre, and ends with a watch built around him. Few actors have shaped Bond’s watch as much as Craig did.
